Caring for outdoor furniture in Ankara’s climate
Dry summers, strong sun and winter freeze–thaw cycles shape furniture lifespan in Ankara. A seasonal care calendar keeps collections looking sharp.
Summer: UV and dust
Intense UV can dull wood and fade textiles. A monthly wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap is usually enough—avoid abrasive cleaners.
Shading with umbrellas improves comfort and extends cushion and solid-wood life.
Autumn: clean and decide on storage
Use drained cushion covers or indoor storage to avoid leaf and moisture build-up. Store demountable parts in a dry, ventilated space.
Winter: frost and metal joints
Freeze–thaw increases cracking risk on wet timber. Cover when possible and check fasteners. A light spring sanding and oil/varnish refresh prepares most sets for the season.
